This disc golf tournament took place at the 2012 United States Disc Golf Championships final round in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The USDGC takes place at the Winthrop University course. I followed the players from several groups for a few holes. The hole where the players shoot over the water, is hole #5. The 2012 USDGC Champion is Will Schusterick. Cale Leiviska and Ricky Wysocki both wanted to claim this year's title in the men's division but the entire tournament was ultimately decided on the 72nd hole of play. Day 1 is complete at the 2012 Vibram Open and we find a couple of familiar faces atop the leaderboard. All day long Cameron Colglaizer was leading the tournament with his hot round of 53 in which he had to battle a little precipitation in the first few holes. However, Ricky Wysocki would do what that kid does which is play some amazing golf (especially lately) and came in with a scorching score of 50. That is unofficially rated a 1098 but also puts him in the lead by 3 strokes. 18 holes down and 54 more to go!

Packing one of the game's best forehand throws, Discraft's Sarah Hokomcame to the Pro Worlds with only one goal in mind, to be crowned WorldChampion.I spoke with her after the first day of competition when she was sitting on a comfortable lead and she even had a Worlds ace to go along with her great scores. She fought off a charging Valarie Jenkins in the finals all while Catrina Allen was in striking distance as well. It was a great battle all week and when it was all said and done, Sarah came out on top. Congrats to Sarah on her "1 Time" World Championship Title and I speak for many when I say that I look forward to more dramatic battles being fought among the top women disc golfers out there. The Pro Worlds title is certainly up for grabs as long and narrow fairways can alter lead changes very quickly. The first ever Women's Global Event took place on Saturday, May 12, 2012. I hosted The "Midwest Edition" which was near the Wisconsin & Illinois border at a very nice course.
